the plague of the zombies

Sir James Forbes arrives in a remote Cornish village to identify a mysterious plague afflicting the population. Meanwhile, the local squire Charles Harris is using the voodoo magic to resurrect the dead to work in his decrepit and unsafe tin mines that are shunned by the local population. His magic relies on human sacrifice and he unleashes his army of the undead on the unsuspecting village with horrific consequences.

When a strange illness claims the lives of the able-bodied young men in a Cornish village, all avenues of suspicion lead to the local Squire, owner of a disused mine. Living corpses carry dead bodies, graves are found empty, ritual voodoo ceremonies take place and specialist Sir James Forbes is hard put to prove the culprit. The culmination is a fiery Hell.

Whilst vacationing in the Carpathian Mountain, two couples stumble across the remains of Count Dracula’s castle. The Count’s trusted servant kills one of the men, suspending the body over the Count’s ashes so that the blood drips from the corpse and saturates the blackened remains. The ritual is completed, the Count revived and his attentions focus on the dead man’s wife who is to become his partner; devoted to an existence of depravity and evil.

Four English tourists sight-seeing in the Carpathian mountains are warned to stay away from Dracula’s castle. Nothing will persuade their terrified coachman to go near it while it is dark. But a driverless carriage arrives and when they reach the castle, the table is already set for four…

One million years B.C… and the Earth is a silent unfriendly place of threatening volcanoes and a harsh, uncompromising landscape. Tumak, one of the Rock people, has been expelled from his tribe and rescued from certain death by Loana, of the Shell people; a gentle and advanced tribe who live by the sea. The love of the two for each other causes a rift between the two tribes but, amidst erupting volcanoes, all strife is settled as the survivors band together to face the fight for survival in a new, changed landscape.

As the Earth wrestles with its agonising birth, the peoples of this barren and desolate world struggle to survive. Driven by animal instinct they compete against the harsh conditions, their giant predators, and warring tribes. When two people from opposing clans fall in love, existing conventions are shattered forever as each tribe struggles for supremacy and Man embarks on his tortuous voyage of civilisation.

When a young girl is found dead with two fang marks upon her neck, the farmers of Kleinenberg know who is responsible – the evil Count Dracula. They decide to take immediate action and march on his castle with bundles of straw and plenty of oil. They set fire to the castle and as they watch the blaze from a safe distance, they feel sure that, once and for all, the Count has met his end. But killing Dracula, Prince of Darkness, is no easy task and soon the Count is up to his evil tricks once more…

The Prince of Darkness casts his undead shadow once more over the cursed village of Kleinenberg when his ashes are splashed with bat’s blood and Dracula is resurrected. And two innocent victims search for a missing loved one……loved to death by Dracula’s mistress. But after they discover his blood-drained corpse in Dracula’s castle necropolis, the Vampire Lord’s lustful vengeance begins.

Rasputin, a crazed and debauched monk wreaks havoc at the local inn one night, chopping off the hand of one of the drinkers. As the bitter locals plan their revenge, the evil Rasputin works his satanic power over the beautiful women who serve at the Tsar’s palace. Even the Tsarina is seduced by his evil ways and his influence begins to dominate government policy.

Rasputin, a drunken and licentious monk, is a sinister figure with hypnotic powers. By using them on the Tsarina’s lady-in-waiting, he ingratiates himself with the Tsarina herself, thus enjoying a profound influence on her. He becomes increasingly ambitious and, after he has hypnotized the Tsarina into committing suicide, three men decide that he must be eliminated. But he won’t die that easily…

’60’s British B-movie chiller featuring voodoo, the supernatural and general dark arts. A comely young British teacher takes up a remote posting in darkest Africa where the local juju man lays a hex on her. She has a breakdown and is forced to return to the UK. There, she takes up a post at a rural school where all appears well on the surface. It turns out, however, that the place is a hotbed of witchery and darkness and that a virgin sacrifice is planned for the near future. The film was directed by Cyril Frankel, who’d made Hammer’s 1960 child abuse drama ‘Never Take Sweets From a Stranger’, and the script was by Quatermass author Nigel Kneale. Their depiction of sinister undercurrents in a pastoral setting wasn’t sinister enough for the BBFC, however, who only granted the film an ‘A’ certificate. Hammer persuaded them to reconsider, but this accomplished film still failed to find an audience.

The powers of good are pitted against the forces of evil as the Duc de Richelieu wrestles with the charming but deadly Satanist, Mocata, for the soul of his friend. Mocata has the knowledge and the power to summon the forces of darkness and, as the Duc de Richelieu and his friends remain within the protected pentacle, they are subjected to ever-increasing horror until thundering hooves herald the arrival of the Angel of Death.

Duc de Richleau attempts to save the soul of his close friend, Simon, who has become deeply involved in a satanic society run by Mocata. De Richleau’s daughter, Peggy, is kidnapped by the cult and put up for sacrifice to the Angel of Death, who appears to claim his victim but is driven off by De Richleau.

Gaslit London in the 1800’s. Young Doctor Jekyll pursues his search for a drug to prolong life. He tries his potion upon himself and to his horror and dismay finds it changes him into a young and beautiful woman. So Sister Hyde is born. Jekyll decides he needs to take human life to further his research and stalks the streets looking for likely victims.

In foggy London Dr Jekyll experiments on newly deceased women determined to discover an elixir for immortal life. Success enables his spectacular transformation into the beautiful but psychotic Sister Hyde who stalks the dark alleys of Whitechapel for young, innocent, female victims, ensuring continuation of the bloodstained research. With each transformation Sister Hyde becomes the more dominant personality, determined to eventually suppress the frail, ineffectual Dr Jekyll forever.

Victor Frankenstein, descendant of the infamous scientist, Baron Von Frankenstein, follows in his experimental footsteps. Initially his success involves the resuscitation of a tortoise and progressing onto more ambitious projects, including creating his own monster. The gothic genre is re-worked to create a drama of black humour and farce.
On the sudden death of his father, young Victor Frankenstein inherits his title, his castle and his taste for grisly experiments. He hires a grave robber to provide him with material for his hideous work. With the aid of a violent electric storm a monster jolts into life and then escapes to the woods…

After excommunication from the Church, the dark, fanatical Father Michael (Lee) sought the ways of the Devil. He founded a closed convent ‘The Children of the Lord’ to rear children in the ways of Satan. Catherine Beddows (Kinski) has been selected to become the Devil’s daughter on her eighteenth birthday, to reign as his representative on Earth. Her father enlists the help of occult specialist, John Verney (Widmark), who embarks on a mesmeric and cataclysmic confrontation with Father Michael for Catherine’s soul.

When the dark, fanatical Father Michael was defrocked and excommunicated from the Church, he sought the ways of the devil. He formed a closed convent in southern Germany ambivalently named ‘The Children of the Lord’. But the lord in question was the devil-figure of Lord Astaroth and the innocent children were reared in the ways of Satan himself.

Karnstein Castle, an ominous, threatening ruin overlooks an exclusive finishing school for girls where Richard Lestrange (Bates) takes up the post of English teacher. He falls in love with one of the pupils, the beautiful, enigmatic Mircalla Karnstein (Stensgaard). A spate of mysterious deaths at the school is hastily covered up but when the father of one of the dead girls opens her grave he discovers the vampire bite. The Karnstein legend continues. Every forty years they rise from their graves spreading their evil vampirism and terror. The villagers descend on the school demanding blood. Richard rushes to warn Mircalla but as they embrace she opens her mouth to bite his neck as……..the burnt-through beam crashes down, burying itself into Mircalla’s heart.

The fascinating and fatal Carmilla enrolls as a student in an exclusive girls’ finishing school and proceeds to wreak havoc among pupils and teachers alike. Among those who fall victim to her striking and sensual beauty is the school’s new English teacher, who at first refuses to credit the ugly rumors about her true nature. But, following the death of a colleague and student of the occult, Giles Barton and as the toll among the girls mounts, he is reluctantly forced to recognize Carmilla’s guilt…
