one battle after another centres on bob, a washed-up former revolutionary now living off the grid, drifting through a fog of weed smoke and low-level paranoia with his fiercely independent teenage daughter, willa. played by leonardo dicaprio, bob is trying to keep the past buried, until it comes crashing back when his old nemesis resurfaces after sixteen years. not long after, willa goes missing. panicked and out of his depth, bob is forced back into the world he tried to escape, scrambling to track her down while confronting the damage left by his earlier life. as father and daughter move through their own versions of survival, the film becomes a chase shaped by guilt, unfinished business and the inescapable consequences of belief turned sour.
