In ‘Basket Case 2’ (1990) Duane and Belial find refuge with Granny Ruth (Annie Ross), who acts as a surrogate mother to a variety of mutants. All is well until a sneaky journalist attempts to flush out the Bradley brothers and their new friends turn nasty. ‘Basket Case 3 – The Progeny’ (1991) follows the brothers on a road trip in the Deep South. By this time, Belial has become father to his own monstrous sons and sets out to exact terrible revenge when the newborn infants are kidnapped by a pair of deputy sheriffs.

Keen to understand the strange things that are happening to him, he journeys deep into a strange parallel world where humans perform DIY body alterations and women are fitted-out with replacement robotic arms. ‘Tetsuo 2 – Bodyhammer’ (1992) follows an unassuming office worker who suffers an extreme reaction when his son is kidnapped by members of a skinhead cult. His anger is such that he begins to mutate into a metallic killing machine capable of unleashing almost infinite violence upon anyone who opposes him.

His kinky girlfriend, Nicki (Deborah Harry), is somehow involved in the station and, as Max becomes more addicted to the violence it depicts on the screen, the boundary between real life and television disappears amidst a host of increasingly bizarre hallucinations and body transformations.
